The brief
A family wanted to keep the character of the original house, add a large living room and make it usable all year.
The site
A steep lakeside plot with protected views and strict planning rules.
The approach
We repaired the original house, added insulation and heating, and placed the extension low on the old stone base so it is barely visible from the lake.
The result
Planning consent on the first application; the house is now lived in through the winter.
